Like All Good Things, Another Sketchy Magee Comes to an End

I know you are all here to see the shit sketches that come out when no one is looking, but before that, I have a bit of business. As you may know, the Kickstarter for Northside Comic Artist's complete comic compendium "Northside Comics Volume 1" did not reach it's goal. sad face. However, the little money we make from conventions is going toward printing a small run for their fifth anthology "Memories". So the comic I drew for it, "Bound", will still have a home. happy face. Keep an eye on my Instagram, @Saturn2169 for more info about when to expect that. Hint: it should be sometime this fall.

Now back to the reason why you are here! Actually, I have no idea why you are here. If you accidentally stumbled across this blog because you thought there were some boobs, don't leave yet! I promise there are some boobs. Just scroll down to see all the sketchyness that I've been up to for the past couple months. Enjoy!

Drew a couple of mermaids for MerMay this year.

Bang! Boobs right off the bat!

A lot of fan art. It's just so much fun to draw!

Kitty Pryde I drew for Terry at Third Coast Comics.

Sketchy Fiona and Marshall Lee.

Can't get enough of that Bubbline.

Not sure if there is a fun 'ship name for Blue Beetle and Booster Gold.

Bluebird sketch for a comission.

Another Bluebird sketch. She was fun to draw.

Drew some Seaman fanart for the Jackbox Games live stream.

Another one for Jackbox Games. It's for the best that you don't know the context.

A few things from this sketchbook made it into No Pants 3!

A few things did not make it into No Pants 3.

A comic about the time John and I ate too much.

A comic about how I don't look good in joggers.

As per usual, some embarrassing self portraits.

Couldn't decide whether to put this in the "mermaid" section or the "self portrait" section. I think I made the right choice.

Other miscellaneous sketchyness.

Some concept art for "Bound".

Drawing from a fun figure drawing session at Grotesque Burlesque.

Charles in charge!

Quick sketch of Zazie Beetz.

I've been having fun recently really trying to fill up my sketchbook pages. Here are some of my favorites.

Page of gestures from figure drawing.

I really like the look of drawings on top of drawings. I do this whenever I start drawing something I don't like. Instead of scratching it out or erasing it, I just draw on top of it.

More drawings on drawings.

Filling up the cracks.

Super secret concept art for a comic in a Halloween anthology.

Bonus sketchbook page! I finished up my sketchbook, but I'm still waiting for my new sketchbook to arrive in the mail, so I've been drawing in one of my side sketchbooks... sketchbook.

Have a good day!

#Inktober2016

So, I decided to participate in #inktober this year. It felt great to continue drawing everyday however, many of these ended up being pretty rushed. I only really carved out about 30-40 minutes to come up with an idea, sketch it out and ink it. None of these are really polished or thought out illustrations, but I guess that's okay. I still had fun doing it. I also want to thank John for his help coming up with many of these ideas as I sat there frustrated for not being able to decide on what to draw. Oh, you may notice that October 1st is missing. I did draw it and post it on twitter but, I drew it in a sketchbook that didn't take to the ink very well and the drawing ended up pretty fuzzy. Anyway, I just didn't want to post that one, so if you really want to see it, check out my twitter @saturn2169. Without further ado...

I was just a wee bit drunk when I did this one of me posing in front of a discarded mattress.

I actually changed the color of this one on twitter to blue, because I didn't mean for this to look like blood on his face.

This was one of John's prompts: Eric Andre hugging a unicorn.

*Forgot to give Ericka Medina credit for the idea for this one. Cheese plate inspired drawing.

A quick David S Pumpkins from Saturday Night Live.

John came up with the idea to do a series of spooky animals.

Spooky Giraffe.

Frankenstein's Hippo.

Mummy Beaver.

Zombie Penguin.

Kraken Bear.

Final image of the month was my Halloween drawing. A self portrait of me eating airheads and playing Pokemon Go wearing my panda hat.

Hope you enjoyed these. I don't have any specific daily drawing plans for November. However, I do have my holiday card coming up. Woo, that's right! And as you may know I live in Chicago now, so if need my new address or if you have changed addresses message me on Facebook or email me. Ok, that's it.
