Female Model Sheet

Character design I've been working on.

A couple color concepts. I originally wanted her to wear the red hoodie, but the orange is kinda growing on me.

Flappalicious

So, back when I thought I was going to quit my job, a coworker of mine decided to get me a little parting gift. She wasn't sure what kind of art supplies I used so she got me a sketchbook, some pencils and a couple of markers. The markers she got were especially interesting. They are Sharpie paint markers. Anyways as a gift to her, I decided to do a little painting just for her using two of the colored markers. One was a metallic green and the other was a sparkly orange.

Initial sketch.

Final pencils.

Inked.

Putting in the background.

I did some rough color inks before I laid down the final colors for the dress and shoes with the markers.

Final.

Below are some detail pictures so you can see the shininess of the metallic green and the sparkles in the orange.

These are the markers I was talking about in case anyone was interested.

Thanks Alexandria!

My internet is out so I can't upload any of the scanned items from the project I've been working on this week. So instead enjoy these two little sketches from my sketchbook.

TL;DR Stuff I Made for Mother's Day and Some Birthdays

So last week I didn't really post anything of substance. I was busy working on some personal projects. Since they are now done and have been received by the people I sent them too, I can post them here! With out further ado, my first project.

My sister called me last December and asked if I could do a series of paintings for her newborn son's bedroom. He wasn't due 'til April, so I put the project off for a while. And then when he was finally born, I realized that I still hadn't a clue what to paint. Anyways, a week and a half ago, I had an idea and decided it would be a perfect mother's day/happy being born day for my sister and nephew. The idea was to do a cartoon-y looking animal drawing for every letter in his first name. My sister didn't make it easy though. See for yourself.

Sketches of some of my ideas.

 Thumbnails of the final ideas.

Photo of the final paintings (sorry I forgot to take pics of the whole process).

All of them together after being scanned in.

The other project I worked on was creating mother's day cards for all my sisters, moms, and grandma. Also, since I was sending my new nephew and sister something I decided to also make a card for my brother-in-law whose birthday was on mother's day and their other son whose birthday was just a couple weeks ago. I'm just the worst aunt.

 All the cards together.

Close up of the card for my mother-in-law to be. Which is a very similar design to the one for card for my mother. The main difference is that on my mom's card I'm waving and on my mother-in-law's card, John is waving. Also the text on my mother's card is green (my favorite color) and on my mother-in-law's card it's blue (John's favorite color).

Cards for my sister-in-laws to be. They both have two kids, which is why they both have two bees. Jenny has twins, which is why they are the same size flying in the same pattern. I didn't really expect anybody to get that, but I thought it was kinda cute, right?

How I signed the card for my brother's fiance, the mother of my other nephew.

My nephew's birthday card.

This might be my favorite of the cards. This is the birthday card for my brother-in-law.

Close up of the drawing on the front of my sister's mother's day card. Celebrating the birth of her new son.

I just realized that this is all probably way more information than anyone cares about. Welp, too late, I already typed it out and you already read it all.

Blergh!

This whole week I've been busy working on some personal projects. I promise I'll post pics next week. Until then enjoy another shitty sketch from my sketch book. Also behold the laziness that is me blogging from my phone, because I don't feel like turning on the computer.

Dirty Laundry

Today and tomorrow I'l be working on a top secret project, so I won't be able to post pictures of it until the end of the week or possibly next week. So until then, enjoy these crappy, blurry pictures I took of crappy sketches of me carrying the laundry to the laundromat.

Warning: Drawings of Nekked People!

Last night was my second time attending Draw Mania! Draw Mania is a monthly drawing event which features live nude and partially nude models. These events have, so far, been my favorite figure drawing sessions. The atmosphere is really laid back and free form. Draw Mania is located in the back room of this cool little Tiki Bar on 14th st. There is a small stage where 4-5 models do their own thing for 15-30 minute blocks of time over the course of 4 hours. Some of the models will do one pose for the whole block of time and others will switch poses or move as they feel throughout. There is a DJ and drinks. And in between poses there are 10-15 minute performances by local comedians, dancers, musicians, and storytellers. Last night I watched a dancer pierce herself with needles! It's really an event like I had never previously seen.

Last night there were six or seven different models posing throughout the night. Below are some of the drawings I did. They range from 30 second drawings to 10 minute drawings. Some of the images are pretty large so if you want to view them at full size just right click and view image in separate tab or window. Enjoy!

Some of the quicker drawings: 30 seconds - 2 minutes

A little bit longer poses: 3-8 minutes maybe?

I think these last two are my favorites: around 10 minutes maybe?
